A tragic road accident along the Sagamu-Ikorodu route has resulted in the deaths of four individuals, including a minor. The incident occurred at 12:40 pm on Sunday and involved a wine-colored Toyota Sienna (registration number LND945EL) and a white Convoy bus (registration number AKD232XV).
According to Florence Okpe, spokesperson for the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) in Ogun State, eight people were involved in the crash. She attributed the accident to overspeeding and wrongful overtaking, which caused a rear-end collision between the two vehicles.
“The crash involved two vehicles: a wine Toyota Sienna (registration number LND945EL) and a white Convoy bus (registration number AKD232XV). Eight individuals were involved: six male adults, one female adult, and one female child. Tragically, four people died—two male adults, one female adult, and one female child—while four male adults sustained injuries,” Okpe reported.
Rescue efforts were conducted by a team from the FRSC Mosimi Unit Command, with injured victims transported to Dasochris Hospital in Gbaga, Ogijo. The bodies of the deceased were handed over to their families.
Sector Commander Anthony Uga extended his condolences to the families of the victims and urged motorists to avoid overspeeding and to remain vigilant while driving. He also emphasized the importance of adhering to road markings, especially when overtaking.
