FUOYE Student Arrested for Alleged Rape of Male Colleague
A 400-level student from the Federal University Oye-Ekiti (FUOYE) in Ekiti State has been apprehended by the police for allegedly raping a male colleague.
A video circulating on Tuesday shows the accused being escorted by police amidst a crowd.
The National Association of Ondo State Students and the FUOYE Student Union have released statements distancing themselves from the accused, confirming that he is not affiliated with their organizations. Both groups emphasized their commitment to fostering a safe and inclusive environment and pledged to take necessary actions to ensure justice.
In a statement, the National Association of Ondo State Students clarified, “We want to make it clear that the individual, Oni Olalekan, popularly known as Asiwaju, who was accused of sexual assault and publicly disassociated from our association on Monday, June 10, 2024, is not a member, executive, or appointee of our association.”
The statement further stressed, “This individual has no affiliation with our association. It is important to correct any misinformation and ensure the public is accurately informed.
“We take these allegations very seriously and are committed to maintaining a safe and inclusive environment for all our members. If you have any concerns or information that you think we should be aware of, please contact the association board.
“Let’s continue to uphold our values and principles as we strive for a respectful and supportive community within our association.”
