Gunmen Attack Ogbaru Headquarters, Damage Property and Homes

In the early hours of Friday, gunmen launched a violent attack on the Ogbaru Local Government Area headquarters in Atani, Anambra State. The reasons behind the assault remain unclear, but reports indicate that gunfire within the local government offices caused widespread panic, compelling residents to stay indoors.
According to the state Police command, security forces successfully repelled the attackers. Police Public Relations Officer, SP Tochukwu Ikenga, confirmed that while some local government properties and nearby buildings were damaged, no casualties were reported. A joint security operation is currently underway to address the situation.
Ogbaru LGA, a riverine area bordering Onitsha South and Ekwusigo, has faced recurring attacks by gunmen in recent years. Further updates will be provided as the situation develops.
