How a Social Media is Empowering Students to Fund Their Education

In today’s digital landscape, social media has evolved from a mere entertainment platform into a significant avenue for financial independence. This shift is particularly noticeable in Nigeria, where an increasing number of young people are turning their creative skills into sources of income, helping them finance their education.

GSMNS Global, a prominent social media management firm, has reported that many of the content creators they support are successfully funding their schooling through their online ventures. Established in 2018, GSMNS Global has quickly positioned itself as one of Africa’s leading companies in social media monetization. Starting with just one content creator, the firm has since empowered hundreds of young Nigerians to enhance their creativity and optimize their social media profiles for better financial returns.

Samuel Ijaola, the founder and CEO, shared, “When we began our journey into social media monetization, only a handful of Nigerians recognized the platforms as viable income sources. We actively reached out to content creators, and one of the first to respond was Mark Angel.”

Today, GSMNS Global manages nearly a thousand creators, providing them with essential consultation and guidance on maximizing their content. “Creating engaging posts that attract attention is no easy feat,” Ijaola noted. “Many of our creators are students, and over the years, numerous individuals have successfully funded their education through their earnings.”

The company’s achievements stem from strategic partnerships with major platforms like Meta (Facebook’s parent company) and YouTube. Christian Bassey, the COO, emphasized how these collaborations have enhanced their support for creators. “Through our partnership with Meta and our role as a YouTube MCN, we offer creators tools and resources they wouldn’t have access to otherwise. We take care of complex aspects like algorithm navigation and monetization management, allowing them to focus on their creative passions,” he explained.

Bassey also highlighted the impact of this burgeoning content creation sector on youth unemployment in Nigeria. With traditional job opportunities dwindling, many young individuals are finding financial stability through online endeavors.

“Content creation offers an alternative to conventional corporate jobs. Instead of waiting for government or private sector positions, students are seizing control of their financial futures. This shift positively impacts their lives, helping them remain productive and steering them away from negative influences,” he said. “When young people focus on building something meaningful for themselves, the likelihood of engaging in criminal activities diminishes. It’s about redirecting their energy toward constructi

ve pursuits.”
