How Armed Robbers Kill Brigadier General Harold Udokwere, Chair of REMNAF In Abuja

Brigadier General Harold Udokwere, the national chairman of Retired Members of Nigerian Armed Forces (REMNAF), was tragically killed by a trio of armed robbers in Abuja. The retired general was attacked in his residence situated in the Kubusa area of the Federal Capital Territory early on a Saturday morning, as reported by News360 Nigeria.

Abiodun Durowaiye-Herbert, Chairman of REMNAF’s Board of Trustees, disclosed during a telephone interview with Sunday PUNCH that the robbers struck around 3 am. He described the vulnerabilities of General Udokwere’s home, located at the far end of the estate with its back directly facing the expressway, where previous thefts had occurred through the fence. Despite robust security at the main gate, the assailants managed to gain entry. Durowaiye-Herbert lamented the loss, highlighting General Udokwere’s peaceful demeanor and recent relocation to Kubusa from Kurudu due to traffic concerns.

Air Commodore S.A. Zakari (retd), National Assembly Sergeant-At-Arm, confirmed the tragic incident in a statement. According to Zakari, the robbers demanded valuables from General Udokwere’s wife, including his firearm, and subsequently fired shots. The statement detailed the attack occurring at 0300 hrs on June 22nd at No 1, Sanga Street Sunshine Homes, near Kabusa Junction in Lokogoma, Abuja. This marked the third attack on their residence.

Federal Capital Territory Commissioner of Police, Benneth Igweh, has initiated efforts to apprehend the perpetrators, ordering an immediate investigation into the incident and the untimely death of the retired general.”
