Kyari Brings Relief and Hope to Maiduguri Bomb Attack Survivors

In Maiduguri, Borno State, The Minister of Agriculture and Food Security, Abubakar Kyari, made a heartfelt visit to survivors of the recent bomb explosions in Maiduguri, offering comfort, financial support, and solidarity as wounded victims continue treatment at the University of Maiduguri Teaching Hospital.
More than 70 patients remain hospitalized following the triple suicide attacks on March 16, which hit several busy areas including Monday Market, the Post Office, and the hospital’s main entrance. Official figures cited by local outlets such as The Guardian Nigeria and Daily Post confirm that at least 23 people died and over 100 others were injured, underscoring ongoing security challenges posed by violent insurgent groups in the North‑East.
Kyari, who was abroad with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu when the blasts occurred, immediately returned to Nigeria upon hearing of the tragedy and proceeded straight to the hospital, where he was welcomed by Dr. Bukar Bunu, Director of the Trauma Centre.
At the bedside, the minister offered prayers for the deceased, asking Allah to grant them Aljannatul Firdaus, and prayed earnestly for the speedy recovery of those recovering from injuries. In remarks shared with The Nation Newspaper, Kyari described the attacks as deeply distressing and expressed empathy for families who lost loved ones.
In addition to spiritual support, Kyari distributed cash assistance directly to victims and provided help for other patients in the ward, demonstrating concern for their wellbeing. He also commended the Federal Government’s response, acknowledging the leadership of President Tinubu, Vice President Kashim Shettima, and Borno State Governor Babagana Umara Zulum in addressing the security crisis.
The minister went further to commend the Armed Forces, praising Chief of Defence Staff General Olufemi Oluyedeand Chief of Army Staff Lt. Gen. Waidi Shaibu for their roles in stabilizing volatile areas of Borno State and across the country. He also thanked medical personnel, rescue teams, the Police, and members of the Civilian Joint Task Force for their tireless efforts in the aftermath.
Kyari called on residents to remain resolute and support security agencies, while continuing to pray for lasting peace in Borno and throughout Nigeria sentiments echoed on social media platforms by community leaders and national media alike.
