LP Ex National President, Abure Accuse Obi, Aishat Yesufu and Pastor Ituah for Mismanagement of Campaign Funds

Julius Abure, the former national chairman of the Labour Party, has addressed accusations of financial mismanagement related to the 2023 election campaign funds. In a recent video statement, Abure labeled the claims as “mischievous,” insisting that the party was not involved in handling or distributing campaign funds.
According to reports, during a recent extended meeting in Umuahia, Abia State, Labour Party stakeholders appointed former finance minister Senator Nenadi Usman to head a 29-member Caretaker Committee. This committee was tasked with resolving the party’s leadership issues and organizing a convention to elect new leaders.
Abure clarified that the Labour Party had no role in managing donations or campaign finances. He explained that the party’s focus was solely on electing a president, and they allowed others to manage the funds. He stated that donations were directed to specific accounts managed by Aisha Yesufu and Pastor Ituah Ighodalo, who were also responsible for paying polling unit agents. The party itself did not handle these transactions or payments.
Abure criticized the allegations as unfounded and maintained that the party had no involvement in financial operations related to the election.
