Youth Minister Criticized for Poor Leadership as Calls for Her Resignation Grow

Hon. Franklin Njoku, a prominent figure in the Tinubu Support Organization (TSO) and its spokesperson, has called on President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to urgently reassess the performance of Dr. Jamila Ibrahim Bio, the Minister of Youth Development. In a statement issued on Monday, Njoku criticized Dr. Ibrahim Bio for her perceived inadequacies in handling youth affairs, attributing recent youth unrest to her ineffective strategies and lackluster programs.
Njoku pointed out that the Minister has fallen short in her duty to effectively engage with and address the concerns of Nigerian youths. He specifically referenced the recent #EndBadGovernance protest, which resulted in significant political and economic disruptions. Njoku argued that this protest could have been mitigated had the Minister been proactive in addressing youth concerns and engaging with youth organizations.
He criticized Dr. Ibrahim Bio for her lack of response during and after the protest, noting that she failed to organize any press conferences or engage with youth groups to discuss the issues raised. According to Njoku, her inaction and disregard for sustainable initiatives render her unsuitable for the role of Youth Minister.
Njoku also highlighted that the Minister’s office has been inactive and disconnected from grassroots youth engagement. He noted that over 90% of Nigerian youths are unfamiliar with the Federal Minister of Youth Development, which contrasts sharply with previous ministers who were more visible and involved with the youth community.
In light of these concerns, Njoku advised President Tinubu to consider a cabinet reshuffle, arguing that the current policies and approaches are inadequate and contributing to the challenges facing Nigerians today. He reiterated the TSO’s commitment to supporting the administration and ensuring its success.
