Man Left in Tears After Being Scammed for iPhone 11 in Computer Village, Lagos
In Lagos’ busy Computer Village, a man was left heartbroken after falling victim to a scam involving his iPhone 11.Â
The man, excited about a trade offer, met a street vendor who presented an enticing deal. During the transaction, a group of touts approached, demanding ₦1,000 for conducting business on their turf. Faced with the intimidation, the man quickly paid them, which created the perfect distraction for the scam.
Seizing the opportunity, the vendor urged the man to log out of his iCloud account to speed up the process before more touts arrived. Under pressure and eager to complete the deal, the man complied, handing over his iPhone 11 in exchange for what he believed was an iPhone 13 Pro Max.
The vendor then advised him to quickly hide the phone and leave to avoid further trouble with the touts. It was only after the man had left and inspected his new phone that he discovered it was not the high-end iPhone 13 Pro Max he expected but a cheap Android imitation.
The vendor had used the confusion to switch the genuine phone with a fake one. Realizing he had lost both his original iPhone and his money, the man was overwhelmed with distress. While he still has a phone that makes calls, the emotional and financial impact of the scam has left him devastated.
