Newborn Abandoned in Bush Near Ikwo, Ebonyi State; Student Suspected

A newborn baby was discovered abandoned in a bush near Ikwo, Ebonyi State, sparking concern and outrage in the local community.
Preliminary reports suggest the infant may have been left by a young woman believed to be a student of Alex Ekwueme Federal University Ndufu-Alike Ikwo (AEFUNAI), shortly after giving birth.
Residents in the area found the baby under distressing conditions and quickly alerted authorities. The child was rescued and is currently receiving medical attention.
While investigations are still ongoing, sources say efforts are being made to identify and locate the mother. Authorities have urged anyone with relevant information to come forward, as the case raises broader concerns about mental health, stigma, and the need for support systems for young
mothers.
