Troops operating under Sector 5 of Operation Safe Haven (OPSH) have successfully apprehended a suspected arms trafficker and recovered an AK-47 rifle along with ammunition during a surprise checkpoint in Plateau State’s Bokkos Local Government Area.
According to security sources who spoke with Zagazola Makama, the arrest took place on July 3 at approximately 5:45 p.m. in Mangar, Daffo District, following reliable intelligence reports regarding the illegal movement of weapons in the region.
The suspect, identified as 37-year-old Zubairu Ahmed, was stopped by the troops and found carrying one AK-47 rifle, a loaded magazine containing three rounds of 7.62mm special ammunition, a motorcycle, two Tecno mobile phones, clothing, and N400 in cash.
Both the suspect and the confiscated items have been handed over to the appropriate authorities for further investigation. Security operatives are continuing their efforts to dismantle the wider arms trafficking network by tracking down other suspects involved.
