Nigerians Are Hungry Under PresiyTinubu’s Govt – Kayode Fayemi Blows Hot
Former Ekiti State Governor, Kayode Fayemi, has openly expressed dissatisfaction with the current state of affairs under President Bola Tinubu’s administration, citing widespread hunger and frustration among Nigerians.
In a video obtained by DAILY POST, Fayemi warned that the growing discontent could significantly affect the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC)’s chances in the 2027 general elections.
Speaking in Yoruba, Fayemi emphasized that the average Nigerian is battling serious economic hardship, attributing much of the discontent to the federal government’s failure to meet public expectations.
“Let’s not deceive ourselves—people are suffering. There’s hunger in the land, and cash is scarce,” Fayemi remarked.
He also highlighted the poor condition of federal roads, using examples from Ekiti State to drive home his point. He cited the stretch from Efon Alaaye through Erio Ekiti, as well as the road linking Omuo Ekiti to Ayedun Ekiti via Ilasa, describing them as nearly impassable.
Fayemi referenced a major road project executed during his tenure and completed under Governor Biodun Oyebanji, which reportedly cost between N18 and N20 billion. According to him, the Federal Government refused to reimburse the state for the project, claiming it had not authorized the construction.
“If the Federal Government had refunded that money, wouldn’t the governor have been able to extend the project or fix other critical roads like the one from Ado Ekiti to Aramoko-Ekiti?” he asked.
The video also showed the Speaker of the Ekiti State House of Assembly, Adeoye Aribasoye, and Assembly member Tope Longe seated beside Fayemi.
Notably, Fayemi was absent from a recent political rally in Ado Ekiti where both President Tinubu and Governor Oyebanji received endorsements.
