Obasa Rallies State Support for First Lady’s Development Programmes

The Speaker of the Lagos State House of Assembly, Mudashiru Obasa, has called on state governments and stakeholders across the country to support development initiatives championed by the First Lady, Oluremi Tinubu, describing the programmes as vital to improving the welfare of Nigerians, particularly women and vulnerable groups.

Obasa made the appeal while addressing participants at a public engagement focused on promoting social development and economic empowerment initiatives driven by the First Lady’s office. He noted that the programmes are designed to tackle pressing social challenges and create opportunities for citizens, especially at the grassroots level.

According to the Speaker, meaningful development requires collaboration between different levels of government, civil society organisations, and community leaders. He stressed that the initiatives promoted by the First Lady complement government policies aimed at addressing poverty, improving healthcare access, and empowering women and youth.

Obasa said the programmes under the First Lady’s platform have continued to demonstrate a strong commitment to humanitarian causes, education, and economic empowerment. He explained that these initiatives provide support systems for families while also creating pathways for sustainable development.

He further urged state governments to align with the programmes by providing the necessary institutional backing and resources required for their effective implementation. Obasa maintained that when states actively participate, the impact of such initiatives can be significantly expanded to reach more communities across the country.

The Speaker also commended the efforts of Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s administration in promoting inclusive governance and social welfare policies. He noted that the First Lady’s interventions reinforce the broader vision of ensuring that development benefits every segment of society.

Obasa emphasized that empowering women remains one of the most effective strategies for national growth. He pointed out that many of the initiatives being promoted focus on skills development, financial inclusion, and improved access to opportunities for women and young people.

He concluded by encouraging stakeholders, including private sector organisations and development partners, to collaborate with government institutions to strengthen the reach of the programmes. According to him, collective action will ensure that the initiatives deliver lasting benefits to Nigerians and contribute to national development.
