Police officers from the Ajuwon division of the Ogun State command have apprehended a suspected cult leader, Abiodun John, who was found in possession of a firearm during a stop-and-search operation along the Akute/Olambe road.
The 25-year-old suspect was arrested around 3:30 PM on Thursday while driving a Venza car with the registration number URSMOT AUTOS 4657DLA.
According to the police spokesperson, Omolola Odutola, the arrest followed a tip-off from the public.
After receiving the information, officers tracked down the vehicle and stopped it in front of Osaro Mobile Filling Station. Upon searching the car, two locally made pistols and three live cartridges were discovered.
Odutola confirmed that while John was arrested, another suspect managed to escape.

“Abiodun John, a 25-year-old from the Olori area of Akute, was arrested, while another suspect is still at large,” she added.
The police spokesperson also mentioned that investigations are ongoing, and the case will be handed over to the SCID ABK for further processing once initial inquiries are completed.
