In a ceremonial event at Obafemi Awolowo University in Osun State, the Ooni of Ife, Oba Adeyeye Ogunwusi, unveiled a golden statue honoring Nigeria’s First Lady, Oluremi Tinubu, on Thursday.

The occasion also featured the inauguration of several projects, including the 2.7km Senator Oluremi Tinubu Way, a grand pavilion, and a monument—all sponsored by the Ooni in recognition of her contributions.
The Ooni commended Mrs. Tinubu for her outstanding leadership, dedication to education, empowerment of women, and commitment to national unity.
He described the statue as a lasting tribute to her character, emphasizing its significance: “This golden statue immortalizes her virtuous nature and represents the strength of a teacher, mother, and wife at the core of Obafemi Awolowo University.”
Additionally, he noted that the new hostel and pavilion named after her symbolize her efforts to foster environments for learning and development.
During the event, Mrs. Tinubu announced a donation of ₦1 billion for the university’s horticultural landscaping efforts.
