A large python was recently killed by a farmer in Jos, attracting a crowd of curious onlookers eager to witness the sight of such a massive snake. One passerby, clearly taken by the unusual discovery, decided to purchase the snake for ₦200,000 as a way of supporting the farmer who had killed it.

While the snake’s size and the farmer’s decision to kill it generated significant attention, many believe the situation could have been handled differently. If the appropriate authorities, such as zoo staff or wildlife experts, had been contacted, the snake could have been safely captured and preserved, instead of being killed.
