“POLITICS WILL PASS, OSUN IS FOREVER” – Hon. Adeoye Emmanuel Temitope Unveils Peace Roadmap to End LG Crisis.
In a passionate appeal to the people of Osun, Hon. Adeoye Emmanuel Temitope has called for calm, patience, and unity amid the ongoing local government leadership dispute. Speaking on Monday, he urged all political stakeholders to put the welfare of the people above partisan interests, stressing that “politics will pass, but Osun will remain forever.”
Hon. ADEOYE EMMANUEL TEMITOPE outlined a Conciliatory peace plan centred on respect for the rule of law, protection of council funds, continuity of essential services, and open dialogue between rival parties. He further called on security agencies to remain neutral and for citizens to avoid violence while awaiting the Supreme Court’s verdict on the matter.
My good people of Osun State,
In recent months, our beloved state has been caught in a disagreement over the leadership of our local governments. This situation, if not handled with wisdom and patience, can create unnecessary division among brothers and sisters who share the same future.
I speak to you today, not as a politician seeking advantage, but as a son of Osun committed to peace, unity, and progress.
First, let us remember that the courts are the final arbiters in a democracy. We must allow the Supreme Court to give its verdict without pressure, without threats, and without violence. The law is the foundation of our stability, and no ambition should stand above it.
Second, peace must come before possession. Until the legal process is concluded, all parties should refrain from forceful occupation of the council Secretariats. Political victory is empty if it comes at the cost of community harmony.
Third, we cannot let governance stop because of political disputes. Our civil servants and those who serve without party colours should continue managing local government affairs temporarily, so that markets, schools, hospitals, and community projects do not suffer.
Fourth, local government funds must be protected. They belong to the people, not to any political group. Let us safeguard these resources until rightful leadership is determined, so that when the time comes, they can be used for development, not litigation.
Finally, I call for dialogue over division. Let traditional rulers, elders, religious leaders, and representatives of all parties meet regularly to resolve tensions and keep the people informed. Osun State will be stronger if we choose conversation over confrontation.
My people, politics will pass, but our relationships, our peace, and our communities will remain. Let us show Nigeria that Osun is a place where democracy works, where disputes are resolved with respect, and where the people’s welfare comes first.
May peace reign in Osun State. May justice be done. And may we move forward together, stronger than before.
God bless Osun State.
God bless the Federal Republic of Nigeria.
Signed,
Hon. Adeoye Emmanuel Temitope
