President Tinubu Approves ₦1.5 Trillion Light Rail Project for Kano

In a major move to enhance urban transportation, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has approved a ₦1.5 trillion (approximately $1 billion) light rail project for the Kano metropolitan area.
While some have recently shared divisive or misleading claims about the federal government’s focus on development in the North, the facts tell a different story. President Tinubu remains committed to inclusive growth, ensuring that every region benefits from national infrastructure projects.
The Kano light rail initiative is currently undergoing preparations for procurement. Once underway, it is expected to ease traffic congestion, modernise public transport, generate employment opportunities, and stimulate local economic activity.
Hon. Abubakar Kabir Bichi, Chairman of the House Committee on Appropriations and representative of APC-Kano, addressed the misinformation, stating clearly: “It is not true that the President is not prioritising the northern part of the country.”
This project is yet another example of the Renewed Hope Agenda turning policy into real, measurable progress for Northern Nigeria.
