Reno Omokri’s Ex-Wife Accuses Him of Domestic Abuse, Claims She Fled for her Life
Tuokpe Onuwaje, the estranged wife of Reno Omokri, a former aide to ex-President Goodluck Jonathan, has leveled accusations of domestic violence against him, asserting that it drove her to flee for her safety.
In a post shared on Instagram, Onuwaje revealed that she suffered years of abuse throughout their marriage, which began in Nigeria and continued after their move to the U.S. She also disclosed that Omokri left her and their three children—one of whom has special needs—to live with an Ethiopian woman named Hanna in the U.K.
Onuwaje’s comments came in response to Omokri’s recent social media tributes to Hanna. She recounted several instances of abuse, including a ruptured eardrum and a swollen jaw, and criticized Omokri for his controlling and intimidating behavior.
In her statement, she wrote: “We often justify staying in a toxic relationship for the sake of maintaining a family or protecting the children, but the truth is, they deserve better. After enduring an initial violent episode that left me with a swollen jaw and severe pain, I mistakenly thought I was at fault. I even witnessed my daughter seeing me get slapped. The final incident, where I woke up to blood on my pillow from a ruptured eardrum caused by him, led me to call the police.”
Onuwaje also addressed Omokri’s current relationship, stating: “Now, you boast about being happily married to someone who doesn’t argue. Good luck to her, as you always sought someone you could dominate and intimidate. I was never meant to be that person; I was raised to stand up for myself.”
