Rivers Crisis: Wike Challenges Fubara, “I Made You, Who Have You Made?”

Nyesom Wike, the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), addressed supporters in Port Harcourt on Saturday, reflecting on his role in Sim Fubara’s rise to the governorship of Rivers State. Speaking at a reception hosted by the Rivers State Ijaw Peoples Congress, Wike expressed his frustrations over the ongoing tensions with Fubara since the latter took office.
Despite attempts by President Bola Tinubu to mediate the dispute, the conflict between the two continues to escalate.
Wike asserted, “Who has Fubara elevated? The issues at hand stem from those envious of our progress. They have failed to achieve what we have accomplished.”
He emphasized their past political victories, stating, “These are the same individuals we have defeated time and again. If given the chance, we will do it again.”
Wike proudly noted, “I made an Ijaw man the Governor of Rivers State. We all worked tirelessly for this achievement. So, who truly supports the Ijaw people? Is it those who merely appear on television but have not facilitated the rise of their own brother?”
He questioned the influence of those who, he claimed, have not contributed to the political landscape since the establishment of the old Rivers State, asking, “Where are they now?”
