Russian Engineering Team Arrives at Ajaokuta Steel Company for Technical Review

A team of 23 Russian engineers, who originally constructed the Ajaokuta Steel Company, has arrived in Ajaokuta, Kogi State, to perform a technical audit of the facility. This development was confirmed by authorities on Friday, accompanied by a photo of the engineers in front of the plant.

The team will collaborate with local engineers to assess the facility, pinpoint areas needing enhancement, and update outdated equipment to boost operational efficiency. As part of this upgrade, analog systems will be replaced with digital technology to modernize the plant.
This initiative is considered a significant step toward revitalizing the long-stalled project and restoring the steel plant to its intended state. Sumaila Abdul-Akaba, the sole administrator of the Ajaokuta Steel Company, told the Nigerian Television Authority that the team has inspected several sections, including the thermal power plant, light mills section, and the oxygen
plant.
