See How Truck Killed a Police Inspector in Ogun State

A tragic accident involving a speeding truck claimed the life of Police Inspector Afolabi Adeola at a checkpoint along the Abeokuta–Sagamu Expressway in Ogun State.
Sources confirmed that the incident occurred around 12:30 p.m. on Sunday, near the Judiciary Complex in Abeokuta. The truck, reportedly carrying 900 bags of cement, was approaching the checkpoint at high speed when it collided with another vehicle that had stopped for police inspection.
The force of the collision caused the truck to veer further, fatally striking Inspector Adeola, who was on duty at the time. He sustained severe injuries and was immediately rushed to a hospital in Lagos. Unfortunately, he passed away on Monday, shortly after undergoing diagnostic imaging.
Security analyst Zagazola Makama shared details of the incident on his X (formerly Twitter) handle, noting that traffic officers arrived at the scene, took statements, and impounded both vehicles involved as part of an ongoing investigation.
Authorities have indicated that those responsible for the crash are expected to appear in court on Wednesday, July 3.
When contacted for an official comment, the spokesperson for the Ogun State Police Command, CSP Omolola Odutola, declined to give details, stating that a formal press release would be issued. However, as of the time of reporting, no official statement had been made available.
