See the bans Plateau Gov place on Churches, Mosques

Plateau State Governor, Caleb Mutfwang

Plateau State Governor Caleb Mutfwang has issued a directive prohibiting religious centers from obstructing roads and mandated them to comply with building regulations.

Under the implementation of Executive Order 003, signed by Governor Mutfwang on March 1, 2024, all churches and mosques are required to provide building approvals issued by the Jos Metropolitan Development Board (JMDB). Failure to comply may result in penalties, as stated in letters dated June 13, 2024, signed by JMDB’s General Manager, Hart Bankat.

The correspondence, addressed to the state chairpersons of the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) and Jama’atu Nasril Islam (JNI), emphasized the importance of maintaining unobstructed access to roads. Dr. Salim Musa Umar, Secretary of JNI in the state, confirmed receipt of the communication.

The letter specified, “In accordance with Executive Order 003, Governor Caleb Mutfwang has mandated the cessation of road blockades by religious centers for the management of building and vehicular traffic. It is advised that all worship centers ensure adequate off-road parking facilities for worshippers during services. Additionally, all religious centers must possess valid building approvals from the JMDB to avoid legal repercussions. The government urges spiritual leaders to counsel their adherents on compliance with these regulations in support of lawful conduct.”
