See the Number Killed as Trailer Loses Control in Abia, Crashes into Street Vendors

On Tuesday in Umuahia, the capital of Abia State, a tragic incident occurred when a trailer, or articulated vehicle, veered off course and collided with a group of street vendors, leading to at least one confirmed fatality, according to ABN TV.

The accident, which took place at Ahiaeke Junction on Ikot Ekpene Road, also resulted in significant property damage. Despite the driver’s attempts to prevent a more severe outcome by steering the vehicle, the trailer struck a tricycle, pulling the driver underneath. Additionally, a motorcyclist was also hit and dragged beneath the trailer, sustaining severe injuries.

Onlookers, recognizing the driver’s efforts to mitigate further harm, intervened to protect him from the enraged crowd and safely escorted him to the Ehimiri Police Station.
