PoliceAuthorities in Kano State have confirmed the death of the Divisional Police Officer (DPO) of Rano following a violent protest triggered by the death of a young man held in police custody.
According to the Kano State Police Command, 27 individuals have been apprehended in connection with the unrest.
In an official statement released on Monday evening, the Command’s Public Relations Officer, SP Abdullahi Haruna, explained that the events unfolded on the evening of May 25, 2025. Kano State Commissioner of Police, Ibrahim Bakori, visited the scene and extended condolences to the Emir of Rano, Ambassador Dr. Mohammed Isah Umar. He also ordered a thorough investigation to uncover the root causes of the incident and ensure those responsible are held accountable.
