Five students from the Enugu State College of Health Technology in the Oji River Local Government Area were abducted by armed assailants. The abduction occurred as the students were leaving the campus.
A video shared on social media on Saturday showed the aftermath of the attack, including a man injured and covered in blood.
DSP Daniel Ndukwe, the Enugu State Police Public Relations Officer, confirmed the incident in a statement on Sunday, noting that it took place on Thursday evening. He addressed rumors of a larger number of abducted students, labeling them as exaggerated and misleading.
Ndukwe reported that the police had received information about the attack and responded promptly, successfully rescuing two of the abducted students. However, three students are still missing. He assured that a comprehensive operation is underway to rescue the remaining victims and capture the kidnappers.
