See the numbers of persons killed in 135 attacks in Benue State in one year – Amnesty Int’l

According to a report by Amnesty International, Benue State in Nigeria experienced a significant amount of violence within a year, resulting in the deaths of 600 people. The report highlights that these fatalities occurred across 135 separate attacks.

Amnesty International’s findings point to a high level of insecurity and violence in the region, which has been plagued by clashes between farmers and herders, as well as other forms of communal violence. The organization often emphasizes the need for the Nigerian government to enhance security measures, provide better protection for civilians, and address the root causes of the conflict to prevent further loss of life.

These incidents in Benue State reflect broader challenges in Nigeria related to ethnic tensions, land disputes, and inadequate law enforcement. Amnesty International typically advocates for justice and accountability for the victims and calls for comprehensive strategies to address the underlying issues driving such violence.
