See the Thousands of Barrels Warri Refinery Begins Production Per Day with

The Warri Refinery has officially commenced production, now refining 125,000 barrels of oil per day, according to Mele Kyari, the Group CEO of the Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPCL). Kyari shared the announcement during a tour of the facility on Monday.

In his address before the tour, Kyari emphasized that although the plant is not yet fully completed, it is operational. “We are showing you our plant today. It’s running. While it’s not 100% finished, we are still in the process of completing it. Many doubt that such achievements are possible here. We want to show you that this is real,” Kyari said.

Also present during the tour was Farouk Ahmed, the CEO of the Nigerian Midstream and Downstream Petroleum Regulatory Authority (NMDPRA).

The refinery, located in Ekpan, Uwvie, and Ubeji in Warri, also houses a petrochemical plant that produces 13,000 metric tons per annum (MTA) of polypropylene and 18,000 MTA of carbon black. Commissioned in 1978, the Warri Refining and Petrochemical Company (WRPC) has been managed by NNPCL, originally established to cater to the needs of the southern and southwestern Nigerian markets.
