Finidi George Calls for Increased Effort from Super Eagles After 2-1 Defeat to Benin
Following a 2-1 defeat to Benin Republic in a 2026 World Cup qualifier on Monday, Super Eagles head coach Finidi George has urged his players to show more dedication.
Nigeria’s current situation is tough, with only three points from their first four games. Although Raphael Onyedika scored for the Super Eagles, Benin triumphed with goals from Jodel Dossou and Steve Mounie.
As the team prepares for their next match against Rwanda in March 2025, Finidi stressed the need for perseverance.
“It’s essential to evaluate how our players perform at the start of the new season and strive to bring out their best,” said Finidi. “Winning games requires full commitment. We mustn’t give up despite our three points. Finding ways to motivate and enhance our players’ performance is critical,” he concluded.
