Sule Lamido: Tinubu’s Success Is Self-Made; He knows Buhari work against him

Sule Lamido, former Governor of Jigawa State, has praised President Bola Tinubu as a bold and self-reliant leader, asserting that Tinubu’s rise to power is entirely his own achievement and not influenced by his predecessor, Muhammadu Buhari.

In an interview with the Nigerian Tribune, Lamido characterized Tinubu as someone who skillfully navigated and leveraged the political landscape to his advantage. He noted that Tinubu’s political acumen and strategic maneuvering were pivotal to his success.
Lamido, who is a prominent member of the opposition Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), remarked, “Before the convention, Tinubu confidently declared his readiness to lead Nigeria while Buhari, who was indifferent, watched from the sidelines. Buhari had his own preferences and lacked faith in Tinubu, even preferring Ahmed Lawan over his vice president, Professor Yemi Osinbajo. Despite this, Tinubu prevailed.”
He further commented, “Tinubu’s victory was not a result of Buhari’s endorsement. Despite opposition from influential groups and figures like Afenifere and Obasanjo, Tinubu overcame significant hurdles to become president. His determination and resilience in dismantling obstacles are evident.”
Lamido also discussed the PDP’s plans for the 2027 elections, acknowledging the substantial challenge posed by Tinubu’s entrenched position and influence over the country’s political and economic spheres. He highlighted Tinubu’s relentless drive and self-made success, emphasizing that his political prowess and ability to confront and overcome challenges are unparalleled.
“There’s no Nigerian quite like Tinubu, who has achieved his status through sheer determination. He has reshaped the political landscape and now holds significant power,” Lamido concluded.
