Suspected bandits launched an attack on Kakangi ward in Birnin Gwari, Kaduna State, resulting in the deaths of four vigilantes and a Mobile Police Force (MPF) officer.

The assailants also abducted several villagers near a farm in the Sabon Layi area of the same ward.
Yahaya Musa Dan Salio, a member of the Kaduna State House of Assembly representing Kutemeshi ward, confirmed the incident to Daily Trust on Monday.
“Yes, among the victims were local vigilantes and one other individual killed by the bandits on Sunday. There were also villagers abducted on their farms around Sabon Layi, all within my constituency,” he said.
He added, “When we received information about the bandit attack on the farms, the divisional police officer and local hunters mobilized to repel the assault. Unfortunately, in the process, three local vigilantes and a mobile policeman were killed. Several bandits were also neutralized, and others fled with bullet wounds.”
