Taraba Governor Kefas Officially Joins APC

Taraba State Governor, Dr. Agbu Kefas, has formally joined the All Progressives Congress (APC) after registering as a member of the ruling party on Sunday. His registration was carried out by the APC Hospital Ward executives at the Government House in Jalingo, the state capital, where he was issued his membership card.
Speaking shortly after the exercise, Governor Kefas explained that although he had earlier postponed his official defection ceremony, which was initially scheduled for November 19, he considered the registration necessary to fully participate in party activities at the state level. He said the postponement was done in solidarity with the abducted schoolgirls in Kebbi State, adding that completing his registration was a basic requirement regardless of when the formal ceremony holds.
The governor thanked the ward executives and members of the state working committee present at the event, noting that his decision to align with the APC was taken in the best interest of Taraba State and effective governance. According to him, joining the party will strengthen cooperation and help build a more solid APC structure in the state.
He also disclosed that a new date for the official defection ceremony would be announced in due course. Governor Kefas’ registration comes amid wider political shifts in Taraba, following the recent defection of members of the state executive council, Speaker of the House of Assembly Izito Benzena, and 14 lawmakers of the Taraba State House of Assembly to the APC.
