Tension Mounts as Police Blockade Kano Emir’s Palace

Residents of Kano are currently on edge as a heavy presence of both uniformed and plainclothes security personnel has blocked access to the Kofa Kudu Emir’s palace. The reasons behind this security deployment remain unclear, although there are strict restrictions on vehicular movement in the area.

Reports indicate that Emir Muhammadu Sanusi II is scheduled to convene a stakeholders’ meeting at the palace today, where key discussions will take place regarding the controversial tax reform bill currently before the National Assembly.
Attempts to reach police spokesperson, SP Abdullahi Haruna Kiyawa, for further details were unsuccessful.
