Terrorists Kill Five in Plateau Village Attack

At least five people have been killed in Lighitlubang village, located in the Mangu Local Government Area of Plateau State, in an attack believed to have been carried out by suspected terrorists.
The incident, which took place on the night of Friday, January 31, 2025, saw the attackers storm the village while residents were asleep, brutally slaughtering their victims.
Moses Bankat, a local resident, confirmed the tragedy to PUNCH Online on Saturday. He reported that the attackers killed a family of five, including a man, his wife, and a child, along with another couple.
The Plateau State Police Command spokesperson, DSP Alabo Alfred, verified the attack and assured that security personnel had been dispatched to the area to restore order. An investigation is underway.
“We are waiting for more details from the DPO once they return from the village,” said the Police Public Relations Officer.
The attack has left the community in shock, with many residents now living in fear.
