Tinubu Approves Pay Rise and Pension Payment for Nigerian Military Personnel

Bola Ahmed Tinubu

Bello Matawalle, the Minister of State for Defence, announced on Friday that President Bola Tinubu has approved a salary increase for Nigeria’s military personnel. The statement, released by ministry spokesperson Henshaw Ogubike, also revealed that the government had authorized the payment of three months’ worth of salary arrears.

In addition to the pay hike, funds have been allocated to settle outstanding pensions and other entitlements owed to retired military members.

Matawalle confirmed that the alerts for the salary increase have already begun reaching active personnel, providing a significant morale boost for the armed forces.

He commended President Tinubu for his steadfast commitment to both current and retired military members, stressing that clearing pension arrears for veterans remains a key priority.

“Despite early challenges, rest assured that the President is dedicated to ensuring our military is fully supported as they tackle the nation’s security issues,”he added.
