Tragic Accident: Twin Babies Crushed by Train in FCT
A heart-wrenching incident occurred in the Bwari Area Council of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) as an Abuja-bound train from Kaduna State tragically collided with twin babies, Hassana and Hussaina Barau, near the Kuchiko community.
The twins, who were on the brink of celebrating their second birthday in July, met with the unfortunate accident around 10 am on Saturday, as confirmed by community leader Andrew Dogonyaro.
According to Dogonyaro, the children inadvertently wandered onto the tracks while visiting neighbors, oblivious to the impending danger. Despite attempts by a bystander to rescue them upon hearing the train’s warning signals, it was too late.
The incident was promptly reported to the authorities, initially at the police outpost in Sabon-Bwari and later at the Sabon-Wuse Division in Tafa LGA of Niger State. Wasiu Abiodun, the Police Public Relations Officer, verified the tragedy, noting that the girls, aged one year and six months, lost their lives in the accident.
The case will undergo further investigation by the Railway Division in Kubwa, Abuja, to ascertain the circumstances and take necessary actions.
