Two Nigerians Arrested in India for Drug Trafficking, Flats’ Owners Face Charges

Two Nigerian nationals were arrested in Navi Mumbai for drug trafficking after a raid on their rented flats in the Shirke Building, Dharna Camp, Taloja. Acting on intelligence, the Anti-Narcotics Cell (ANC) of the Navi Mumbai Crime Branch conducted the operation on Saturday and seized large quantities of illegal drugs.

The suspects, identified as Onyeka Hillary Illodinso (25) and Chidiebere Christopher Muoghalu (40), were found in possession of Mephedrone and cocaine worth a total of Rs 5.62 crore. Authorities recovered 2.42 kg of Mephedrone and 174 grams of cocaine from their residence.

Sandeep Nigade, Senior Inspector of the ANC, confirmed that both men had been living in the rental flats despite their passports and visas having expired. As a result, the landlords of the property, Ramesh Pawshe and Namdev Thakur, have also been charged for failing to provide the proper rental agreement documents to local authorities.

The two Nigerian nationals have been remanded to police custody until Tuesday, November 19, while the landlords are expected to face questioning and legal action for violating regulations regarding renting out properties to foreign nationals.
