Violence Erupts Between Ijesha Communities in Osun State, 4 Feared Dead, 7 Policemen Injured

A violent clash stemming from a land dispute in Osun State has resulted in the deaths of four individuals, with at least seven police officers reported injured.
The conflict, which occurred between the communities of Esa Oke and Ido Ijesha, has left residents fleeing in panic, as shown in videos obtained by SaharaReporters.
Osun State Police Public Relations Officer, Opalola Yemisi, confirmed the situation, stating that seven officers sustained injuries while attempting to restore order in the area. She explained that the officers were ambushed by suspected thugs during their peacekeeping efforts.
“The officers were attacked by thugs while trying to maintain peace, and seven of them were injured,” Yemisi said, adding that the injured officers received medical treatment in the hospital.
While the police spokesperson confirmed the injuries to the officers, she also clarified that there had been no confirmed fatalities, despite earlier fears. “No one died except for the injured policemen,” she assured.
Yemisi further reported that two of the assailants were apprehended during the incident, and authorities are continuing their search for others involved. The arrested individuals will be prosecuted accordingly.
