I Was Wrong”: Former Peter Obi Supporter Apologizes and Backs Tinubu for 2023 Election
A passionate supporter of Peter Obi, the Labour Party’s 2023 presidential candidate, has publicly reversed his stance, offering a heartfelt apology for not backing President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.
In a video that has since gone viral, the young man, identified as Okezie, admitted his earlier mistake and declared his unwavering support for Tinubu and the All Progressives Congress (APC). This shift in allegiance reflects a growing trend of key members from the “Obidient” movement reevaluating their political positions since the 2023 elections.
In the video, Okezie candidly reflected on his past decision, expressing regret for backing Obi instead of Tinubu. He explained that his change of heart stemmed from the president’s leadership and the tangible progress he believes is underway in Nigeria.
“I want to apologise to every Nigerian. I’m sorry I supported Peter Obi in the last presidential election,” Okezie began, acknowledging the lessons he’s learned since the elections.
He went on to share his newfound belief in Tinubu’s vision for the country. “President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, I am sorry I didn’t support you because I didn’t understand your vision. Today, I can see the progress you’re making for Nigeria,” he said.
Praising Tinubu’s leadership, Okezie expressed optimism about the future of the country under the president’s administration. He promised to support Tinubu in the upcoming elections, aiming to make amends for his previous choice.
“I know where we were when you took office, and I see how far we’ve come. I want to assure those who supported you before that we will continue to support you in the next election,” Okezie concluded.
