Why I Regret Choosing Love Over Money When I Married My Ex-husband – Yvonne Jegede

Yvonne Jegede Reflects on Choosing Love Over Financial Stability in Marriage

Nollywood actress Yvonne Jegede has shared the reasons behind her decision to leave her marriage. Jegede revealed that she ended her marriage because she was the primary financial provider in the relationship.

Naija News reports that in 2019, Jegede announced the end of her marriage to actor Olakunle ‘Abounce’ Fawole, just a year after they were married.

In a teaser for an upcoming episode of ‘The Honest Bunch’ podcast, Jegede expressed her regret over prioritizing love over financial stability. She explained that her significant contribution to the household finances was the main factor in her decision to leave.

She said, “My ex-husband is eight years older than me. However, once we were married, if I told him, ‘You’re crazy,’ he would say I was being disrespectful. It was as if he had changed from the person I initially married.

“But that wasn’t the primary reason for our separation. The truth is, I was the one bringing in most of the money. I’m raising my son almost single-handedly. It’s challenging. In hindsight, I should have chosen financial stability over love.”
