Yobe Government Clarifies Recruitment of Repentant Boko Haram Insurgents into ‘Hybrid Force; State the Needs of Boko Haram

The Yobe State Government has explained the role of repentant Boko Haram insurgents in security operations in Geidam town, noting their involvement in the ‘Hybrid Force’ to aid counterinsurgency efforts.

Brig. Gen. Dahiru Abdulsalam (retd.), Special Adviser on Security to Governor Mai Mala Buni, stated that these former insurgents are assisting security agencies by providing critical information to identify collaborators and suppliers of the terrorist groups.

“No government will take actions detrimental to its people. Our commitment is to end insurgency and restore peace,” Abdulsalam emphasized.

He highlighted the effectiveness of the Hybrid Force in preventing terrorist infiltration and aiding the arrest of 12 individuals connected to Boko Haram’s leadership and supply network.

Abdulsalam called on Geidam residents to support security agents in expelling terrorists and cutting off their supply routes. He noted that Boko Haram relies heavily on fuel, food, and medicine, which is why they target hospitals and shops.

“The essential needs of Boko Haram are fuel, food, and medicine. This is why they attack hospitals and break into shops to steal supplies. These logistics are crucial for their operations, which is why they continue to disrupt our communities,” Abdu

lsalam said.
