Yoruba Gospel Star Taiwo Adegbodu of Adegbodu Twins Passes Away

Taiwo Adegbolu
Nigerian gospel music mourns a huge loss as Taiwo Adegbodu, one half of the celebrated Yoruba gospel duo Adegbodu Twins, has passed away.
The sad news was confirmed on Sunday via a post on the group’s official Facebook page, managed by their team. In the emotional announcement, the family described his sudden death as “deeply painful and difficult to bear.”
Fellow gospel musician **Esther Igbekele** also took to Instagram to pay tribute, sharing a photo of Taiwo and expressing her sorrow in Yoruba. Details surrounding the cause of his death have not yet been released.
Taiwo, alongside his twin brother **Kehinde Adegbodu**, rose to prominence in the Yoruba gospel scene following their 1999 debut album, *Faratimi (Lean on Me)*. Over the years, the duo became renowned for their spiritually uplifting and culturally rich sound, creating hits like *Shower Your Blessing*, *God Concert*, *Emi Mimo*, *Igbagbo Dun*, *Ma Beru*, and *Adura Mi Gba*.
The news of Taiwo’s passing has sparked an outpouring of grief from fans, fellow gospel artists, and the wider Christian music community across Nigeria.
His legacy, however, lives on through the music and inspiration he shared over decades.
