₦130BN EDE AIRPORT CONTROVERSY: OSUN APC CAMPAIGN COUNCIL BLASTS ADELEKE, DEMANDS ACCOUNTABILITY AND FULL DISCLOSURE

… Accuses Governor of Stockpiling Project Fund For Vote Buying…

The Osun State All Progressives Congress (APC) Governorship Campaign Council wishes to draw the attention of the good people of Osun State and the general public to the disturbing development surrounding the reported upward review of the cost of the Ede Airport project, from an initial contract sum of ₦99.5 billion to about ₦130 billion.
Even more troubling are allegations that a substantial percentage of the revised contract sum has already been paid to the contractor, an interior decoration company, Sowie Tee Global Services Limited , despite widespread claims that the level of work executed on the project does not correspond with the disbursements. These allegations deserve urgent clarification from the Ademola Adeleke administration in the interest of transparency and accountability.
The combined expenditure on the Ministries of Agriculture, Health, Education, Youth Affairs, Sports & Special Needs, Women Affairs, Water Resources, and Energy in Osun State for 2025 was less than ₦130 billion. Yet, the Adeleke administration now seeks to commit that amount to a single project that will have little or no direct impact on the lives of ordinary citizens, reflecting what critics describe as a reckless and wasteful approach to public spending.
It will be recalled that our Campaign Council recently alerted the public to the continued concealment of critical financial documents of Osun State, particularly the 2025 Audited Accounts of the state and the First Quarter 2026 Budget Implementation Report. The non-publication of these statutory documents, contrary to the provisions of the state’s Fiscal Responsibility Law, denies citizens the opportunity to scrutinize government finances and hold public officials accountable.
The recent allegations concerning the Ede Airport project, that Sowie Tee is owned by a close associate of Dr Deji Adeleke, governor’s elder brother and that the project is a conduit pipe to steal Osun money, further underscore why the state government should immediately make these financial records available for public examination. If the administration has nothing to hide, it should publish all relevant financial documents and provide a comprehensive breakdown of payments made on the airport project, the stage of execution, and the basis for the reported variation in contract cost.
The continued lack of transparency has inevitably fueled public suspicion and intensified concerns over the management of public funds. We therefore call on the Governor to provide full disclosure rather than continue what appears to be a policy of secrecy.
The hide-and-seek posturing of the state government regarding its financials gives troubling credence to the security report at our disposal that Governor Adeleke is bent on the white elephant project in Ede because his government is relying on the project fund for vote buying during the forthcoming governorship election.
The Osun APC Governorship Campaign Council maintains that any government that genuinely believes it has performed creditably should willingly subject its records to public scrutiny and should not rely on perfidy to win a re-election.
The Council avers that an administration which touts or purports to have performed does not need to steal and stockpile people’s money to cajole electorate to vote for it as the outgoing government in Osun is planning to do.
Governor Ademola Adeleke has failed the people of Osun and there is no amount of stolen wealth or vote buying that will redeem it on election day.
The Council explains that Adeleke will answer for all his corruption and financial atrocities against the people of Osun upon his exit on November 26 2026 just as it assures the people of Osun that an administration led by Asiwaju Munirudeen Bola Oyebamiji (AMBO) will enthrone a culture of transparency, accountability and fiscal discipline.
As Commissioner for Finance in Osun State, AMBO championed reforms that ensured the enrolment and onboarding of virtually all civil servants on the Bank Verification Number (BVN) platform, a major step towards eliminating leakages, strengthening payroll integrity and promoting prudent management of public resources.
That commitment to financial discipline will remain the cornerstone of an AMBO administration. Every kobo belonging to the people of Osun will be managed responsibly, transparently and strictly in accordance with the law. Public funds will be accounted for, and governance will be anchored on openness, value for money and service to the people.
