See Reasons why Tension and Uncertainties Grips Super Eagle ahead ahead 2026 World Cup Qualifier
Tension and uncertainty grip the Super Eagles’ camp as assistant coach Daniel Amokachi has yet to arrive just one day before the critical 2026 World Cup qualifier against South Africa.
FIRST CLASS GISTS reports that Amokachi’s absence has sparked concerns about his position on the team, amid rumors of a conflict with head coach Finidi George.
Insiders indicate that Amokachi has declined the contract offered by the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF).
The NFF had named Amokachi as one of Finidi’s assistant coaches, along with Benjamin James, Olatunji Baruwa, Chima Onyeike, and Mehmet Ozturk. However, there are claims that the NFF may have imposed Amokachi on Finidi.
NFF President Ibrahim Gusau has refuted these claims, asserting that Finidi was fully involved in the selection process.
“The NFF Technical Director compiled the list, and the best candidates were chosen,” Gusau stated. “Finidi selected all the assistants you see on the list.”
The Super Eagles are set to face South Africa on Friday at the Godswill Akpabio Stadium in Uyo.
