FUDMA VC Discloses Some Staff Allegedly Collaborate with Bandits

Prof Bichi
Prof. Armaya’u Bichi, the Vice-Chancellor of Federal University Dutsinma (FUDMA) in Katsina State, has made a serious allegation, claiming that some university staff members are acting as informants for bandits.

During a press briefing in Katsina on Tuesday, Bichi stated that the contacts of these suspected staff members have been handed over to a security agency for further investigation.
According to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN), the region has been plagued by bandit attacks, with incidents of students and staff, along with their families, being kidnapped. A recent attack resulted in the death of a university staff member, leading to a peaceful protest by his colleagues against the prevailing insecurity.
The vice-chancellor expressed his concern over the issue, emphasizing that the university administration is striving to prevent such incidents, but the situation appears to be deteriorating.
“This matter of informants within our staff is troubling,” Bichi remarked. “We have identified those we suspect of leaking information about their colleagues and students. We have provided their contacts to a security agency for further investigation, but we have yet to receive any updates from them.”
Bichi further stressed that these suspects are indeed staff members of the university and stated, “We have substantial reasons to believe they are aiding the bandits.”
In response, the state’s Police Command, through its spokesman ASP Abubakar Sadiq-Aliyu, mentioned that they were not previously aware of this issue but assured that they would conduct further investigations. Sadiq-Aliyu also urged the public to continue providing information that could help address the security challenges in the area.
