Amnesty International Blasts President Tinubu for DSS Raid on SERAP: ‘A Dangerous Overreach

Amnesty International has condemned President Bola Tinubu for what it calls an “illegal” raid on the Socio-Economic Rights and Accountability Project (SERAP) office by Department of State Services (DSS) personnel.
SERAP had alerted the public via its X account on Monday, reporting that DSS agents had occupied its Abuja office.
The organization demanded that President Tinubu immediately instruct the DSS to halt its “harassment, intimidation, and attacks” against Nigerian citizens.
Amnesty International responded on X, stating that the president’s actions are an overreach in his administration’s attempts to stifle dissent.
The statement read, “Amnesty International has received alarming reports of the unlawful raid on SERAP’s Abuja office by DSS operatives. President Tinubu’s administration is excessively suppressing dissenting voices.”
