New Details Emerge About Bobrisky’s Arrest at the Benin Republic Border

Recent information has come to light regarding the arrest of Idris Okuneye, better known as Bobrisky, by the Benin Republic Immigration Service at the Seme border during a routine passport inspection, according to News360 Nigeria.

Sources from the Immigration Service reported that Bobrisky was detained late at night and held until the following morning. He is now being transferred to the Nigerian Immigration Service (NIS) in Ikeja, Lagos, for further questioning.

Bobrisky reportedly attempted to exit Nigeria discreetly but was identified when an officer recognized his name during the passport processing. An insider revealed, “He tried to have someone else stamp his passport, but the officer insisted he get out of the vehicle.”

The well-known crossdresser is currently under investigation by multiple agencies, including the House of Representatives, the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), and the Nigerian Correctional Service.

This scrutiny follows allegations made by social media influencer Martins Ortse, known as VeryDarkMan, who claimed that Bobrisky paid N15 million to EFCC officials to dismiss money laundering charges against him. Bobrisky has yet to publicly address these allegations.

In addition, an investigative panel established by the Minister of Interior, Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, reported that Bobrisky served a six-month prison sentence earlier this year. The panel found no evidence suggesting that he was outside the custodial facility during his incarceration, which lasted from April 12, 2024, to August 5, 2024, encompassing a standard correctional sentence with applicable remission.
