NAF Deploys New ATAK-129 Helicopters, Marking the End for Banditry

The Nigerian Minister of Defence, Badaru Abubakar, expressed strong optimism that the fight against banditry is nearing its end, urging the nation’s military forces to work closely with other security agencies to root out criminal elements destabilizing the country.
Abubakar’s comments come on the heels of significant progress made by the Nigerian Air Force (NAF) over the past week, with several bandit hideouts in the Northwest successfully targeted and neutralized by the Air Force.
Speaking at the commissioning ceremony of two newly inducted ATAK-129 helicopters, the Minister, alongside the Chief of Air Staff, Air Marshal Hassan Bala Abubakar, emphasized that the advanced helicopters would bolster the military’s efforts in Operation Fansan Yamma. The event took place at the NAF base in Katsina State on Monday.
According to the Minister, the ATAK-129 helicopters are equipped with superior capabilities that make them a powerful tool in the fight against bandits and other criminal groups, ensuring that no perpetrator can escape justice. These new additions will play a pivotal role in strengthening security in the Northwest and restoring peace, stability, and prosperity to the region.
