Former Nasarawa Governor Al-Makura: I’ll Gladly Serve in Any Role If President Tinubu Requests It

Tanko Al-Makura, former governor of Nasarawa State and a senior figure within the All Progressives Congress (APC), has reaffirmed his readiness to serve the party in any capacity if called upon by President Bola Tinubu—even in the most humble of roles.
In an interview with Trust TV, Al-Makura was asked whether he would accept the position of APC National Chairman if offered. In response, he underscored his deep loyalty to both the president and the party.
“I am a committed party loyalist. If the president tells me to come dust his table every Monday because that’s what will help the party and the country, I would gladly do it,” he said. “That’s the depth of my dedication.”
His comments come amid rising speculation that he could become the party’s next substantive national chairman, following the resignation of Abdullahi Ganduje in June. For now, Bukar Dalori serves in an acting capacity.
Al-Makura, who governed Nasarawa from 2011 to 2019 and later represented Nasarawa South in the Senate, is widely seen as a stabilizing figure within the APC, especially in the North-Central region. He noted that he had previously stepped aside from the chairmanship race in 2022 in support of the party’s consensus approach.
