Terrorists Brutally Murder Nigerian Police Inspector As Wife, Sister-In-Law Remain With Kidnappers In Kaduna

ANigerian police inspector identified as Domfa Chirtip, who was kidnapped alongside his wife and sister-in-law last Friday, July 4, 2025, has been brutally murdered by his abductors in the Kateri area of Kachia, Kaduna State.

SaharaReporters gathered from a top police source that Chirtip’s lifeless body was discovered Saturday morning by the Divisional Police Officer (DPO) of the Kateri Division and his team in the Kachia Local Government Area during a recovery operation.

On a sad note, I announce the painful death of Insp. Domfa Chirtip who was kidnapped (Friday) 4th July, 2025, alongside his wife and sister-in-law. He was killed. His lifeless body was recovered this Saturday morning by the DPO Kateri Division and his team,” the source disclosed.

The source lamented that while the police force is quick to unleash punitive measures on officers demanding improved welfare, it has failed to show the same urgency in rescuing kidnapped personnel or providing adequate protection.

May his soul and the souls of all the faithful departed police officers rest in peace,” the source added solemnly.

But currently, the Nigeria Police authorities are clamping down on innocent police officers who are fighting for a better welfare package for all serving members, whereas the wife and sister-in-law of the slain officer are still trapped with the kidnappers, without any effort to rescue them,” he said.

The killing of Chirtip underscores the worsening insecurity across the country and the vulnerability of even security operatives themselves to violent crimes.

Several rank-and-file police officers have in recent months anonymously expressed frustration over poor salaries, poor working conditions, and lack of insurance or support for families of fallen colleagues.

In a related development, SaharaReporters had also reported how a serving Nigerian police constable raised the alarm over fresh efforts by the top police authorities to crush internal dissent within the Force ahead of a planned nationwide protest slated for July 21, 2025.

In a message exclusively obtained by SaharaReporters on Monday, the officer, whose identity is being withheld for security reasons, revealed that a secret roll call initiative has been launched to fish out junior officers suspected of supporting the looming public demonstration.
